David Watts is the new chairman of Maltby Main, ending the search for Wilf Race’s successor.

In a statement, ceo Darrell Johnson said: “Maltby Main are delighted to announce that David Watts has been appointed Club Chairman with immediate effect following the resignation of Wilf Race last month.

“The announcement follows a meeting last night of the club’s committee and volunteers.

“David was Vice Chairman previously and produces the club’s excellent social media material also.

“David has committed to the time and effort this role demands and is a very popular member of the Main backroom team. The club is in great shape sitting in sixth position following a number of recent promotion challenging seasons. The First Team management have been informed of David’s appointment.

“The opportunity was also taken to make a few other ‘tweaks’ to the clubs off the field structure as ‘The little club with the big heart’ moves into a new era.

“I would like to wish David the very best of luck in his new position and I know he will get the support of everyone involved at the club going forward.”
