Back on song Nostell Miners Welfare were letting fireworks here, there and everywhere as they ripped bogey side Glasshoughton Welfare apart in their Friday night spectacular.

Halloween came five days late for Glasshoughton who were well-beaten at the busy Crofton Community Centre by a Nostell who climbed back into the play-offs.

Danny Edwards, Joe Wood, Nathan Hawkhead and Alex Haigh made the most of the gunpowder provided by Ian Walker’s troops.

Glasshoughton enjoyed some early pressure and Nostell were lucky to escape during an almighty goal-mouth scramble.

Nostell began to exert their authority on the derby clash and dominated from there on.

The opener came in the 22nd minute.

Centurion Jamie Allsop played the killer ball that set Edwards, played onside by Nick Lalousis, clean through on goal.

Edwards literally took two touches before sliding it past goalkeeper Sam Riches.

The chances continued to flow for Nostell and even though Joe Wood’s goal five minutes before half-time made it only 2-0, there was an inevitable feeling that it was game over.

Poor defending from a corner allowed Nostell to score their third goal nine minutes into the second half.

The ball was headed back across goal and the unmarked in-form Nathan Hawkhead sent a half-volley rocket past a helpless Riches.

Hawkhead was involved again for the icing on the cake as his dipping free kick was spilled by Riches and Johnny-on-the-spot Haigh pounced to score a tap-in.
