Ex-Scarborough boss Funk returns to game

Toolstation NCEL Division One

Former Scarborough manager Rudy Funk

Former Scarborough Athletic title-winning manager Rudy Funk has been appointed as the manager of Clipstone.

Funk, who has won promotions with Scarborough, Rainworth Miners Welfare and AFC Mansfield, has been out of the game since leaving Long Eaton United a couple of years ago.

Funk told Clipstone’s website: “There are some big plans ahead.

“The Chairman has a plan, the clubs got a plan, they want to get the community involved and to me I think that was the biggest attraction.

“The community has supported me over the years and if I can give something back that would be fantastic.

“Its that buzz, its that excitement that everyone at the club told me they want to create here, and what they want to achieve.

“I think the vision is something unbelievable.

“Tonight I’m talking to you now and I’m off the scale, I’m buzzing and I’m excited, its just the whole package here.”

Graeme Rodger will be his assistant manager.

Funk is of course best remembered in this region for leading Scarborough to the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division title in 2013.
