Change of manager at Wakefield

Step 6 hopefuls Wakefield AFC have announced a change of manager.

Brazilian coach Gabe Mozzini is the new boss and he was in charge for the first time during the 3-0 win over Wombwell Main on Wednesday night.

The appointment has been made by the club’s American owners VO2 Capital.

Adam Lockwood has become sporting director, with responsibility for infrastructure, facilities and commercial activities.

Mozzini has been a youth coach at Queen’s Park Rangers over the last three years.

He has also coached in America.

Kyle Quigley and Karl Leneghan who were part of Lockwood’s coaching staff, will assist him.

Mozzini will take charge of his second game when Wakefield host Ecclesfield on Saturday.

The win over Wombwell put Wakefield in the top five.

To be considered for promotion at the end of the season, Wakey have to finish in the top five.
