Former Scarborough Athletic manager Rudy Funk has joined Frickley’s coaching staff

A very well known ex-Scarborough Athletic manager has joined Frickley Athletic’s coaching staff.

Wayne Benn has added Rudy Funk to his dugout team ahead of the opening pre-season friendly against Dronfield Town.

Funk, who has also managed Rainworth Miners Welfare, AFC Mansfield and Long Eaton United, returns to the game after a short absence following his exit from Clipstone late last season.

Funk’s long-term associate Graham Rodger arrives as well as goalkeeping coach.

Benn told Frickley’s website: “I’ve known Rudy for a number of years and we get on really well.

“We’ve been speaking a lot even prior to my appointment and the timing just seems right to work together.

“His experience can only be an asset and he will certainly be a huge help to both Andy and myself.

“Graham Rodger (Jock) has worked with Rudy for a number of years and was highly recommended.

“We have crossed swords at different clubs but having seen his session the other night I know that Graham will prove a great addition to the coaching team.”

Sarah Hearn also joins as physio.

Frickley fans will get to see their completely rebuilt team in action for the first time when Dronfield visit.
