Former Steels striker seals Hallam move

Scott Ruthven has joined Hallam

An ex-Stocksbridge Park Steels striker is Craig Denton’s first summer signing at Hallam.

Scott Ruthven is back for more at Hallam after almost ten years away.

He previously played for the club in 2013 when Chris Sellars was the manager.

Ruthven is best known for his long stint with Stocksbridge who he served for six years until joining Sheffield FC last Christmas.

He is best remembered at Stocksbridge for scoring both goals in the defeat of holders North Ferriby in the FA Trophy in 2015 and his spectacular free kick against Stalybridge Celtic in the FA Cup which was shown live on the BBC.

Hallam have also lost one of their players this week as Niall Smith has dropped into Step 7 to play for the club’s former manager Ryan Hindley at Retford United.
