Yorkshire Trophy
Garforth Town 1-0 Swallownest
Super-sub Chariie Marshall hit the second half winner as Garforth Town booked their place in Saturday’s Yorkshire Trophy Final.
Garforth will take on Campion at the weekend – a mouth-watering final because Campion signed several players from the Miners earlier in the summer.
Garforth had to either match or better Brighouse Town’s result against Horbury Town to win Group A.
As it turned out a draw would have been sufficient as Brighouse drew 1-1 with Horbury.
The first half between Garforth and Swallownest was a tight affair with little to report.
Garforth began to exert more control on the clash when the big guns such as Marshall entered the fray.
Paul Marshall’s side turned the screw and Swallownest had their man of the match goalkeeper Zac Walker to thank for keeping them in it.
Walker made several top saves prior to Marshall slamming home a net-buster into the far post to break the deadline.
Walkers heroics continued as Garforth probed for the killer second goal.
Ultimately one goal was enough for the Miners.
