Ex-Ecclesfield forward signs for Stocksbridge

NPL Division One East

Former Ecclesfield Red Rose lethal goal-scorer Kenan Mckenzie-Grey has signed for Stocksbridge Park Steels

A former Ecclesfield Red Rose 1915 striker has signed for Stocksbridge Park Steels.

Kenan Mckenzie-Grey has been offered a deal with the Steels following a successful trial.

Mckenzie-Grey scored in the friendlies against Eccleshill United and Sheffield Wednesday, doing enough to impress Ian Richards.

He spent last season with Shirebrook Town but he is best known in this area for his prolific spell with Ecclesfield in 2020 and 2021.

His meteoric rise from Step 7 to Step 4 should serve as a positive advertisement for EV2 Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior League football and it shows young players what could be possible if they work hard.

If he’s available Mckenzie-Grey will be pitting his wits against a Barnsley X1 on Saturday.

He also follows in the footsteps of former Ecclesfield mentors Matt Griffin and Jon and Matt Wragg who had a long association to Stocksbridge as players.
