Joe Lumsden’s hat-trick helped Pontefract Collieries get off to a dream start and hand Grimsby Borough an NPL debut to forget.

Lumsden put the wheels in motion in the third minute.

Gav Allott also enjoyed a memorable Colls bow as he got the second goal in the 4-0 victory.

Gareth Curtis scored two stunning goals as Stocksbridge Park Steels upset the applecart in the North East with a 3-2 win at Dunston.

Luke Rawson also scored on his debut. 

Two quick-fire second half goals got Ossett United off the mark in the 2-0 win at Carlton Town.

Ollie Fearon and Ify Ofoegbu both scored just before the hour.

Bridlington Town began the campaign with a 1-1 draw with Long Eaton United.

Lewis Dennison scored in the eighth minute for Brid.

Ten man Tadcaster Albion were held by the same score-line by Sheffield FC.

Jack Carr scored the rebound from Brett Agnew’s saved penalty early on for Tad who had Jack Johnson sent off.

Brighouse Town went down 3-1 to Hebburn Town at home.

Bobby Pointon scored on his debut for Brighouse.

Premier Division 

Whitby Town lost 1-0 at Matlock Town while Guiseley suffered a 3-0 home defeat to Marine.
