Mike Carmody has resigned at Goole AFC

It is the end of an era at Goole AFC as Mike Carmody has resigned after nearly two years in charge.

Carmody stood down along with his assistant Alan Jackson following the home 7-0 defeat to Garforth Town.

The ex-Armthorpe Welfare manager had been in charge since early 2021.

Although this season hasn’t gone as planned, the pair can leave with their heads held high as they steadied the ship last season and guided Goole to one of their best league finishes in years.

A statement said: “Following today’s result, we can announce the resignation of our management team of Mike Carmody and Alan Jackson.

“We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to both for all their efforts and wish both all the very best for the future.

Josh Schofield will assume temporary control of team affairs until a permanent successor is appointed.”

  1. Mick and his team did a great job in turning the club round on the playing side, had a lot of respect from the supporters who recognised the constraints he worked under, unfortunately it seems not to have worked this season. Good luck for the future Mick
