Simon Houghton has finalised his Goole AFC management team.

Following on from the news of Leon Sewell’s appointment as assistant manager, Greg Beswick has left Albion Sports to become head coach.

With Josh Schofield holding the role as first team coach as well, Houghton feels he had a strong quartet.

Houghton said: “We all have good knowledge of players and a range of different skills.

“I wanted to make sure we had a good management team.

“It is harder than it used to be.

“There’s more networking involved and you have to watch your opposition.

“I’m delighted we have a strong management team and we have to get team ready and start building.

“We all want to get some good young players in who we can try and develop.

“We want players who will buy into it and listen.

“The early signs are promising and we haven’t had a training session with them yet.

“The other night we could have been two or three up at Handsworth before they had a shot.”

One new signing could be in the side tomorrow when they visit Hemsworth Miners Welfare as young striker Sam Deacon has arrived from Silsden.

“He’s an ex-Hull City YTS lad and he’s been at Silsden this year.

“He’s lively and he has a good skillset.”
