Fairytales were written as Omar Sanyang scored twice to secure Tadcaster Albion’s long-awaited first league win of the campaign – at the 25th attempt.

The 2-1 win over Sheffield FC ended Tadcaster’s period of on-the-pitch despair and put a smile back on Sanyang’s face after 12 tough months.

Sanyang broke his leg playing for Pickering Town last year and it was a special night for him.

He came off the bench and placed Tadcaster in front with 15 minutes to go.

Luke Hinsley, who was a Tadcaster player until recently, came on as a substitute and spoiled the party by equalising.

However, Tad, whose season has lurched from one disaster to another, refused to give in and Sanyang scored again to win it.

Brighouse Town lost 1-0 to Hebburn Town.
