Ecclesfield Red Rose 1915 have appointed their new manager following the recent exit of Steve Adams.

Chris Rix has taken command of the ship and the very experienced former Harrogate Town midfielder Laurie Wilson has become player/ assistant coach.

Rix was previously with Athersley Rec Development.

All the upheaval began when Jon Wragg stunned many by resigning following the final game of last season.

Former Parkgate boss Adams initially replaced him but things didn’t work out.

Ecclesfield have to move quickly to get a fully-stocked side together for the campaign.

Rix’s first competitive game at the helm is the League Cup First Round tie at Houghton Main.

The Premier Division season begins on the 3rd September.
