Dodworth Miners Welfare’s summer signings have been officially unveiled.
Highly-rated centre-half James Byford, the former captain of local rivals Houghton Main, will be wearing the red and black of Dodworth this season.
Byford won a lot of praise for his performances for Houghton during the incredible turnaround in form under Donavan Cotton at the end of last season.
The prolific goal-scoring defender was deservedly selected into Terry Simon’s All Stars – the league representative side who beat Wakefield AFC in May.

The other capture is local lad and young starlet Bailey Cowsell.
Cowsell, an Athersley Rec player from the Shane Kelsey era, broke into the Wombwell Main first team last season.
He has pace to burn and will terrorise defenders in the coming months.

Cowsell scored twice in Dodworth’s League Cup first round 7-1 victory at Askern Miners.
Dodworth kick off the season with a mouth-watering home clash against Karl Rose’s Wombwell Town on September 3rd.
