Managers and supporters player of the year Kieran Ryan has been made captain of AFC Emley by Darren Hepworth.

The striker replaces Michael Tunnacliffe, who left the Welfare Ground following the play-off final defeat at Bottesford Town. Goalkeeper Adam Lawlor has also departed. Both exits were expected.

Speaking to Radio Yorkshire’s Tom Feaheny earlier this week, Hepworth confirmed that star striker Ash Flynn has yet to make a decision on his future. Because of his 73 goals, Flynn is likely to receive extreme interest.

Hepworth said: “Over the summer Ash’s phone will be red hot and I would love him to stay.

“Ash knows that and knows what we think of him. Ash, understandably, wants to take some time just to see what comes in.

“He hasn’t put himself out there. He just wants to see what happens. We hope he stays, there’s a chance he might, but you know what, if a chance that comes in for him that’s better, good luck to him. He has been fantastic for us.”
