Jason Yates has joined Shaw Lane AFC
Former Hemsworth Miners Welfare captain Jason Yates has chosen Shaw Lane AFC as his new club.
The Barnsley-based side jumped into the race for his signature after he played for Ossett Town and then Brighouse Town earlier this week. He played for Shaw Lane in the abandoned friendly at Ossett Albion last night.
“I’ve watched him three or four times in pre-season and liked what I saw,” Craig Elliott said.
“I didn’t want to step on Hemsworth’s shoes so I didn’t follow up with any interest. I just left it.
“Then I saw he played for Brighouse and Ossett this week and I got in touch with him.”
More signings at Shaw Lane are expected to be confirmed tomorrow.
