Dave Anderson oversaw his first win since taking over at Goole AFC after his side won 2-0 at Ossett Town.

It was also the club’s first victory of the season and it lifts them off the foot of the table.

Young Jake Vernon’s early goal gave Goole something to hang onto. Former Garforth striker Curtly Martin-Wyatt sealed the three points with a penalty right at the death.

Ossett Albion also celebrated a much-needed victory after a 3-1 success at Mossley.

The Bojang brothers, Gibril and Abdou, got a goal-a-piece and Talent Ndlovu got the other strike.

Brighouse Town remain top of the tree after Leon Osborne’s strike was enough to win at Scarborough Athletic.

Josh Greening and Conor Sellars scored early as Tadcaster Albion beat Glossop North End 2-1 at the i2i Sports Stadium.

James Walshaw and Richard Marshall guided Farsley Celtic to a 2-1 win over Colne.

In the Premier Division, Frickley Athletic lost 1-0 at Matlock Town.

  1. Went to this game with my grandson as neutrals and enjoyed every minute, a great advert for non league football. Goole should have been out of sight at half time, could easily have been 3 up. In the second half Osset piled on the pressure but just could not get that breakthrough. I know forwards usually take the headlines, but Goole’s keeper and back four were unbelievable in the second half they threw themselves into headers, tackles and blocks, determined to protect their goal, that was as good a defensive display I’ve seen for a long time, only look young lads too. Well done to both teams.
