All Star plan revealed at Selby Town

The All Star Football Academy is run by former York City and Selby Town player Christian Fox

Former player Christian Fox has returned to Selby Town to launch an academy for up-and-coming footballers.

The partnership could potentially see hundreds of children playing under the Selby Town banner.

Fox’s All Star Football Academy and Selby entered into an agreement last week and it is hoped that there will be a further link-up with a local College.

There has been interest from prospective players/parents since the news was announced in the Selby Times.

Selby chairman Ralph Pearse said: “I met with Christian last week and I was very impressed.

“The plans are very exciting. The announcement of the partnership has lifted Selby Town as a whole. The fact that there has interest already shows that it has grabbed people’s attentions.

“There is massive potential because there are so many more areas that we can target for players. We can look at places like Cawood, Snaith, Wistow, Riccall, there’s many more.”

The All Star Academy caters for players from the age of three upwards. They already have centres across York which cater for 250 children.

Fox, who also played in the Football League for York City, hopes the partnership will benefit Selby, local schools and local people.

Fox said: “Selby Town is no different to a lot of other Non League teams, where the club has a senior team and not a lot else, but there is huge potential in these clubs.

“We chose Selby as a club and a Town because of its location, size and potential.”
