Harrogate Railway need to quickly appoint a new manager after Paul Beesley and his assistant Liam Ormsby quit on Tuesday night.

Non League Yorkshire can exclusively reveal that Beesley tendered his resignation at an arranged meeting.

It leaves Railway with a race to find an interim or permanent successor in time for Saturday’s trip to Worksop Town.

A Railway spokesman said: “There’s no animosity and we would have like to thank Paul and Liam for all their hard work in the past five months.”

Former Harrogate Railway striker Beesley took charge in September following the departure of Lee Ashforth.

He steered the club from the lower reaches and into mid-table during his reign.
