Evo Stik Division One North
Brighouse Town 1-1 Ossett Town
Ossett Town climbed into the play-offs after a stalemate with rivals and draw specialists Brighouse Town at the Dual Seal Stadium.
Brighouse, who remain in the race for the play-offs, will rue wasting a series of chances in the first half.
Ossett were much better in the second half and Grant Black’s men ended their period of pressure with a goal. A Ossett corner turned into an almighty scramble before Jackson smashed home through a sea of bodies.
Brighouse’s response was sharp and excellent. The equaliser came after Ossett goalkeeper Leigh Overton spilled the ball, allowing Jimmy Pollard to score.
Ossett almost caused a grandstand finish – similar to their visit to Brighouse last season when Nathan Curtis scored a dramatic last minute winner. There was a major penalty appeal when Jackson went to ground before the same player was inches away from scoring after striking a loose ball.
Ossett are now fifth, a point clear of Colne who have a game-in-hand.
