Selby Town are hoping to install their new manager by the middle of the week.

Selby have been “overwhelmed” by the interest in the post which became vacant following the departure of Nigel Emery, who was sacked over a series of Facebook posts which the club claimed broke their code of conduct.

Selby chairman Ralph Pearse told Non League Yorkshire: “We don’t want to hang around, we need to get it sorted so the new management team can start planning for next season.

“The interest in the job has been overwhelming. We’ve had a least 15 applications. The quality of applications have been extremely high which is very pleasing.

“We’re going to hold the interviews in the early part of the week and if possible we want to make an appointment on Wednesday night.”
