Former Farsley defender Matt Dempsey has signed for Scarborough

Scarborough Athletic have added midfielders Luke Dean and Matt Dempsey to their side as they prepare for the new season.

Dean joins from Bradford (Park Avenue) in the National League North. The 26-year-old started his career at Bradford City and progressed through the youth ranks at the Bantams before joining Harrogate Town.

Popular Non League stalwart Dempsey played at Hyde United last season, scoring four goals in 35 appearances. Matt played under Steve Kittrick at Guiseley as well as spells at Shaw Lane, Bradford, Garforth and Farsley Celtic. During his time with Shaw Lane, he memorably saved a penalty after having to play in goal for one game.

Boro boss Steve Kittrick said: “Luke had offers from other National League North sides but he wants to be a part of what we are building at Scarborough. Both Luke and Matt are young and hungry and they have both played at a higher level so will bring that experience to help us next season.”
