Former Maltby manager Steve Adams has returned to the club as director of football

The man who discovered Jamie Vardy has returned to Maltby Main as the club’s new director of football.

Steve Adams, who most recently was the manager of Parkgate for three years until late last year, has been persuaded to take up the post at Muglet Lane.

His vast experience will be a great asset to new Maltby manager Jordan Hall. who has succeeded Spencer Fearn.

Adams was previously in charge of Maltby’s first team between 2008 and 2012. He is crediting with finding Vardy playing local football whilst being the youth team boss at Stocksbridge Park Steels.

In a statement, Maltby said: “Maltby Main FC are delighted to officially announce the appointment of Jordan Hall as the new first team manager. Jordan brings with him his backroom staff, John Styring as assistant and Mark Higginbottom as coach into the positions vacated earlier this month.

“The club would like to thank all applications and put on record that the quality and diverse skill sets of the interviewees was exceptional and made for a very tough decision.

“The club have also been looking to strengthen its back room further and are thrilled to announce that Steve Adams has agreed to take the position of director of football.

“Steve knows the DNA at Maltby as well as anyone and will be involved in areas such as, acting as an intermediary between Jordan and the committee and handling aspects away from day-to-day coaching, allowing Jordan to focus on team performance.

“The reserves will again be managed by Andy King and his back room and the collaboration of everyone will be key for our success going forward.

“The committee are elated with the assembling of the above team and wish Jordan, John, Mark, Steve, Andy and all of the other respective backroom staff well in the new challenges and are looking forward to the 2017/18 season to carve out the next chapter in the clubs history.”
