Campion take Ossett apart in WRCC

West Riding County Cup First Round

Ossett Town 1-4 Campion

Tom Robinson scored the opener for Campion

Campion served up one of their greatest performances since joining the NCEL as they comfortably beat Evo Stik side Ossett Town in the West Riding County Cup.

The Toolstation NCEL Division One outfit had the game sown up by the 47th minute.

Although it must be said that Ossett made a number of changes with the massive Emirates FA Cup tie at Solihull Moors taking place on Saturday, Grant Black still fielded a decent side.

Ultimately they were poor at the back and Campion’s exciting front-line made them pay – underlining why they are flying high in Division One.

Tom Robinson netted the opener before Ossett goalkeeper Matt Brooke made a horrific error by diverting Brighton Mugadza’s corner into own net.

The home side survived a few more chances before half-time. However, it was game-over straight after the interval as Talent Ndlovu struck the goal of the game with a brilliant 30-yard strike.

Ryan Ferguson briefly brought hope for Ossett on the hour mark with a tidy close range finish, but it was soon all over as a Lee Bradshaw corner flew into the far top corner.
