Danny Cawley inspired Athersley to a memorable victory
Danny Cawley struck twice as Athersley Rec recorded a memorable 4-0 midweek away win at Garforth Town.
The striker broke the deadlock in the first half before going onto score a fabulous solo effort to put Athersley three goals to the good deep into the second half.
McCauley Shillito had doubled Athersley’s lead by this stage. Non League legend Lee Garside blasted home a superb free kick to add the fourth.
Goals from Jason Yates, Jonathan Hill, Jon Froggatt, Joe Thornton, Oliver Yates guided Handsworth Parramore to a 5-2 win at Hemsworth Miners Welfare. Nash Connolly’s double was a mere consolation for Hemsworth.
James Piercy’s second half goal earned Hall Road Rangers a 2-1 win over Staveley Miners Welfare.
