Moziah Selassie’s first goal of the season helped Armthorpe Welfare on their way to a win over Ollerton Town.

Eight minutes in Wayne Brook was inches away from making it 1-0 after a bad clearance from Ollerton’s Keeper Jack Dickins arrived at the feet of Brook who had a shot from over 35 yards out, but his long-range effort hit the crossbar.

It took thirty-three minutes for Ollerton to have their first shot of the game, Lewis Bingham crossed the ball in for Josh Bowkett, but he could only direct his header straight at Montgomery in Welfare’s goal.

In the fifty first minute, just after Alan Jackson came off the bench, he had a good chance to give Welfare the lead, but his shot hit the side netting.

Welfare took the lead in the seventy first minute when Mo Selassie’s attempted cross come shot went straight through the opposition keeper’s gloves and in to the back of the net.

Three minutes later in the seventy fourth minute, it was 2-0 to Welfare, albeit with a lot of confusion. Alan Jackson won a free kick just outside the box, Gary Collier curled the free kick around the wall and into the bottom corner, however the celebrations were put on pause when it was almost disallowed as it was an in-direct free kick. After consulting the linesman, the referee gave the goal as the ball was touched by the goalkeeper before it went in.

Six minutes after making it 2-0, Morgan Brough almost made it 3-0 with an incredible volley as he turned his body in the box, but it hit the post and the follow up shot from Collier went wide.

Gary Lumley was then booked just as the match was approaching the final 10 minutes for fouling Lewis Bingham. Sean Dickinson for Ollerton was also booked for dissent.

Eighty-six minutes into the game Darren Mansaram came on as a late sub, replacing Gary Collier but his time on the pitch was cut short four minutes later as he was shown a red card for a heated altercation with an Ollerton player.
