Pontefract celebrate stunning Cup win

West Riding County Cup

Mark Whitehouse scored two early goals for Pontefract

Unstoppable Pontefract Collieries are one win away from their first West Riding County Cup final appearance since 1991 after a stunning 5-1 victory away at Harrogate Town.

Although Harrogate fielded a youthful side, there were still some quality players in their ranks.

But that did not frighten the Colls, who appear to be capable of taking every team they face apart.

Incredibly the contest was pretty much over after just 15 minutes. Jimmy Williams headed home the opener before Mark Whitehouse netted twice.

Lloyd Kerry gave Harrogate hope before half-time, but that was pretty much extinguished after the break as Eli Hey struck after a solo run. Hey added the fifth late-on from the penalty spot.
