New Ossett Town assistant manager Steve Nicholson

Lee Ashforth has named Non League legend Steve Nicholson as his assistant manager at Ossett Town.

Nicholson brings plenty of experience having started his Non League career in 1992 for Farsley Celtic. He went onto make his name playing for Emley under Ronnie Glavin and notably captaining the side in the famous FA Cup third round tie at West Ham 20 years ago.

In recent years, he has been playing for Ossett Albion in the Evo Stik at the age of 46. He does have managerial experience as he was at the helm of Wakefield FC from late 2010 until November 2011 when the club decided to revert to amateur status.

Ashforth, appointed as Grant Black’s permanent replacement on Sunday, now has Nicholson and the experienced Keith Mackie at his side in the Ingfield dugout.
