Former Pickering Town goalkeeper Toby Wells is Garforth Town’s new number one

Former Pickering Town stopper Toby Wells is to be Garforth Town’s new goalkeeper this season.

The brave number one replaces Peter Lawrie who has joined Division One neighbours Selby Town.

Wells was rated as one of the best goalkeepers in the league during his time with Pickering, but for the last couple of years he has been playing locally for Tadcaster Magnets.

Former Parkgate and Swallownest midfielder Chris Howard has also signed for the Miners this week.

Garforth have had to make wholesale changes this summer due to the exits of a lot of last season’s squad such as Mark Simpson, Lee Turner, Luke McCrum and Sean Hunter.

Captain Marvel James Beaston is one of the few remaining from last season and the new faces around him include Devonte Morton, Curtly Martin-Wyatt, Alex Low and Billy Lumsden.
