Iwan Heeley has returned to Brighouse Town from Tadcaster

Versatile Iwan Heeley has gone back to Vill Powell’s Brighouse Town after a short stint with Tadcaster Albion.

Heeley was a key player in the Brighouse team which surprised many by beating Pontefract Collieries in the BetVictor play-offs last season. Heeley scored Brighouse’s second goal.

He left in the summer for Tadcaster, but has returned.

The midfielder can play in various positions, including goalkeeper where he played during his junior football days.

Heeley memorably played in goal during Pontefract’s 2-1 win at Hemsworth Miners Welfare in 2015 – a victory that effectively clinched promotion.

The ex-AFC Emley, Glossop North End and Hemsworth man is one of a number of players who have returned to their respective previous clubs after choosing to leaving at the end of last season.

Nathan Keightley and Jordan Coduri who are now back at Penistone Church are two examples. Coduri had gone to Ossett United, while Keightley went to Tadcaster.
