Perks hits four as Litherland end up with seven men

Nathan Perks scored four times for Glasshoughton

Deadly striker Nathan Perks scored four times as Glasshoughton Welfare won 6-3 after extra-time in the FA Vase at Litherland, who ended up with seven men on-the-field at one point.

Welfare were coasting after Perks completed his hat-trick inside the opening half-hour.

The home side hit back just before the break and two second half goals brought the tie level after ninety minutes.

However the home side also lost the plot, with two players sent off in normal time and a further two sin-binned in extra time. With Litherland having just seven men on-the-field, Welfare, who regained the lead through Ryan Hallsworth, took full advantage.

Franscisco Matos and Perks finished the job.

Glasshoughton will now host Handsworth in the next round after they beat Shelley 4-0.

Leon Howarth, Joe Thornton, Joe Parkin and Marley Grant scored for Handsworth.

Handsworth’s Jamie Austin was sent off, as was Shelley’s James Dyson after melee.

Thomas Foltyn-Brown got the goals as Rossington Main won 2-1 at St Helen’s Town.

Michael Bottomley’s strike in the final minute of extra-time gave Liversedge a 2-1 win over Hallam.

Although Liversedge goalkeeper Josh Lill saved an early second half penalty, the excitement really began as extra-time approached when Liversedge were reduced to ten men because of a sinn-binning.

Then in extra-time, just after Hallam’s Julian Lawrence was sin-binned, Joe Walton fired ‘Sedge in front.

Sam Smith levelled with an acrobatic effort from a tight angle.

With time running out in extra-time, Bottomley made himself the hero.
