Armthorpe Welfare proved that they are reaping the rewards of stable management under Mike Carmody after a stunning 2-1 victory at promotion-chasing Winterton Rangers.

Carmody, who recently celebrated the third anniversary of his appointment, has endured some tough times at the helm, but with limited resources he has been allowed to slowly and carefully rebuild Welfare.

While other clubs have a revolving door for their managers, patience is now paying as Armthorpe continued their brilliant start to the Toolstation NCEL Division One season.

Jordan Snodin set Armthorpe on their way with a straightforward tap-in after just ten minutes.

Adam Baskerville then pounced a loose ball to fire home from 12 yards out to double their lead.

Winterton debutant Nathan Peat smashed home a trademark free kick to set up a nervy finale, but Armthorpe were victorious.

Dan O’Connor’s second half goal earned Hall Road Rangers a decent point from the 1-1 draw at Retford FC.

Nathan Morritt scored as Swallownest pulled off a shock 1-0 victory at Hallam.
