Buttle handed Ferriby chance nearly ten years after McShane ‘incident’

Danny Buttle is back at North Ferriby

Danny Buttle has returned to North Ferriby almost ten years after a bizarre encounter with former Hull City defender Paul McShane.

Hopefully this spell will go better than the previous two. In his first in 2006, Buttle came on as a substitute at Leek Town in the 78th minute, but failed to touch the ball and manager Neil Parsley brought him off seven minutes later.

The second spell was around the year 2011 and during a pre-season friendly against Hull City, Buttle flew in on McShane near one of the corner flags. Even Buttle has admitted he should have been sent off. Later that evening, Buttle visited McDonalds and had to hide in his car as McShane turned up in the car park.

Those stories are just two parts of a colourful, but successful Non League journey. The left-winger, described by some as one of the best crossers of the ball in the NCEL, has enjoyed success with Goole, Handsworth and Bridlington.

Now in the final furlongs of his career, Buttle will surely have a good chance of adding to his medal collection with promotion-chasing North Ferriby, should the season.
