Boston United left-back Ashley Jackson has joined Scarborough Athletic.

Jackson’s signing was revealed moments before Scarborough’s opening pre-season friendly at Garforth Town which the Seadogs won 3-1.

Jackson played in nearly every game during Craig Elliott’s first season (2018/19) in charge at Boston, but during their charge to the National North play-off final last season he only made nine starts and 14 substitute appearances as Alex Whittle was preferred ahead of him.

In the eyes of Yorkshire Non League fans, Jackson is best known for his breakthrough (2016/17) season at Ossett Town under Grant Black.

He was a key player as Black’s heroes stunned the Non League world by reaching the NPL Division One North play-offs, 12 months after avoiding relegation.

Ossett were two minutes away from promotion until Farsley Celtic dramatically equalised and later won the final in the extra-time.
