Smith makes Brighouse debut in narrow defeat

Former Handsworth right-back Darius Smith has joined Brighouse Town

New signing Darius Smith made his Brighouse Town debut in the narrow 4-3 home defeat to Dunston.

Despite taking a second minute through James Hurtley’s close range smasher, Brighouse found themselves 3-1 down by half-time.

The introduction of strikers Alhassane Keita and Laurence Sorhaindo after the hour mark sparked fresh life into Brighouse and they were soon level.

Keita kick-started the comeback as he caused mayhem down the left before scoring.

Within two minutes Brighouse were level. Captain Kurt Harris laid off Sorhaindo and he fired home from the edge of the penalty area.

However, it wasn’t to be for Brighouse as Dunston nicked an 80th minute winner.

Attacking right-back Smith joined hours before from Mickleover Sports. Smith spent last season with Russ Eagle’s Handsworth and has also played for Retford United.
