Boyle fires Brighouse to first win, while Frickley win by four

Northern Premier League Round-Up

Brighouse Town double goal-scorer Jack Boyle

Jack Boyle’s first half double propelled Brighouse Town to their first Division One North West win of the campaign and to 2-0 victory over Pontefract Collieries.

A ball over the top was eventually laid on a plate for the opener from Boyle in the ninth minute.

The second arrived close to half-time when Boyle fired home from the edge of the penalty area.

The only negative aspect for Brighouse was the last minute dismissal of substitute Shiraz Khan.

Ossett United lost 3-0 to Workington and had new signing Reggie Waud sent off in the final few minutes.

Bailey Thompson got Tadcaster Albion’s goal in the late 2-1 defeat to Ramsbottom United.

Frickley Athletic got back to winning ways in Division One South East with a 4-0 smashing of Market Drayton Town – their first home win of the campaign.

Jono Margetts hammered in two late first half goals to get Frickley up and running. The first was a close range finish, while the second was the penalty after he had been brought down.

Ben Tomlinson put the game beyond Market Drayton with 20 minutes left after capitalising during a scramble in the box following a cross from the right.

Tyler Williams rounded off the victory with a delicious chip following a free-flowing move.

Injury-hit Stocksbridge Park Steels lost out 3-2 to Newcastle Town at Bracken Moor.

Reece Fielding brought the Steels back into it in the 22nd minute after Newcastle raced into a two-goal lead.

But Newcastle scored again before half-time and Luke Mangham’s second half goal failed to inspire a comeback.
