Kieran Hirst’s hat-trick helped Wombwell Main dramatically beat Stocksbridge Park Steels reserves 5-4 at home, delighting bolted up star striker Danny Frost who was cheering his team-mates on from the comfort of his own bedroom 

Frost watched Wombwell during their bits of play in both goal-mouths and he could see ex-Worsbrough and Parkgate forward Hirst, Jake Simon and Ryan Wingrove secure victory for the Barnsley-based side.

The winner came from a late Hirst penalty.

Iceman Frost, whose well-known high IQ is clearly demonstrated in his decision to buy a house near to Wombwell’s ground. Not only can he stroll to matches and training, he can also enjoy watching Wombwell with a can of beer during a period of self-isolation or even while waiting for a parcel.

Jimmy Whitehead’s first game in charge of Houghton Main ended in a 4-3 defeat to Oughtilbridge.

North Gawber were beaten 3-2 by Swinton Athletic – Carey Welford and Nikki Baxter got Gawber’s goals.

Wakefield AFC lost 3-2 at Hepworth United who scored a last minute winner.

Pat Hoyle and Jack Burton put 2-1 in front at one stage.
