Merry Christmas from Non League Yorkshire

Non League Yorkshire would like to wish all readers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Clearly the world events of the past nine or ten months do not need speaking about but if there is positives to take from my point of view, (as some managers would say!) the website and your readership have helped me reignite my passion for Non League football.

Non League Football has been a central part of my life since 1998 when my dad was involved at Bradford (Park Avenue) but certainly for the last couple of years and up until the summer my interest was waning.

The website and the Non League Journey articles in the summer also helped me get through the first lockdown.

Those interviews led to a reboot of Non League Yorkshire going into the 2020/21 season and I’m pleased with how things are going.

Match coverage is always going to be difficult with the restrictions placed on the country.

But in September and October over 20 different managers were interviewed each month and in the last week 11 different bosses have given interviews. Covering everybody is impossible and four or five each week (when the season is operating) is about the right number and that target is being reached.

The November lockdown was difficult to provide news and interviews because it was an almost total shutdown. I expect it to be like that again if Tier 4 restrictions or a lockdown stop the season again.

On the plus side, I have got some more Non League Journey interviews in the bank and they will be published in the next month so they are something to look forward to.

Merry Christmas

James
