Yorkshire Trophy start date moved

Brighouse still hope the Yorkshire Trophy will go ahead

Brighouse Town still hope the Yorkshire Trophy tournament will go ahead and they have moved the start-date to May.

But a substantial number of clubs – Ossett United, Eccleshill United, Silsden, Thackley, Steeton, Garforth Town and Emley – have dropped out due to the uncertainty over spectators. The original plan was to start the tournament next week.

The statement released on Brighouse Town’s website reads: “We can confirm that the Yorkshire Trophy tournament will still be taking place.

“The tournament dates have altered so that the tournament takes place from 17th May when fans can attend stadiums, according to government guidance.

“The teams in the tournament have been altered as well due to some teams pulling out. The final teams will be revealed in the coming days.

“The number of fans that can attend each stadia is dependent on the size of each club’s stadium capacity and it’s half of that capacity in which the clubs will be allowed to admit.

“Keep an eye on the @YorkshireTrophy Twitter page for all updates. #YorkshireTrophy2021.”
