Colls ‘keeper joins Sheffield FC

NPL Division One East

Goalkeeper Ryan Musselwhite keeps Ponte’s dreams alive during the goal-less draw with FC Halifax Town back in October

The new goalkeeper at Ryan Cresswell’s Sheffield FC is Ryan Musselwhite.

Musselwhite ends his second spell with Pontefract Collieries to move the world’s oldest club.

The stopper has been a popular figure at the Colls and will certainly be remembered.

“You look at the spells he’s had at the club, he won the NCEL Prem (in 2018) with us,” Craig Rouse told Non League Yorkshire.

“He was part of history and part of the side that got 102 points.

“He played in the side which broke the club’s FA Cup record and played in both Halifax matches.

“Ponte is a club that has a close connection to Ryan and I think he loves it here.

“But in the last few weeks he has fallen down the pecking order behind (Lloyd Allinson) due to no fault of his own.

“He obviously got an injury and we felt we needed someone experienced with the games we had coming up and Lloyd has come in and took his chance.

“It is unfortunate for Ryan but that’s football.”

Musselwhite is primed to make his Sheffield debut in Monday’s derby clash with Stocksbridge Park Steels.
