Striker leaves Garforth for Tad

NPL Division One East

New Tadcaster Albion striker James Burgess

Garforth Town striker James Burgess has made the move to local neighbours Tadcaster Albion.

Burgess is one of the top goal-scorers in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division with 14 goals – although five of them were against Glasshoughton Welfare in the West Riding County Cup.

Burgess, who joins ahead of the battle against Ossett United on December 27th (kick off 1pm), is said to have been on John Deacey and Andy Monkhouse’s radar for some time.

Burgess rejoined Garforth late last year after many years away.

Although he has also played for Shaw Lane Aquaforce and Frickley Athletic, he had also been out of the Non League scene for quite a while and had built up a reputation as a top striker with then-Yorkshire Amateur League outfit Horsforth St Margarets.

It is not all bad news for Garforth as young starlet Charlie Marshall is back from Tadcaster.

Garforth don’t play until Tuesday when they host Thackley.
