Duggan and Priestley score as Ammers end Liverserdge’s 37-game unbeaten league run

NPL Division One East

Yorkshire Amateur 2-0 Liversedge

Yorkshire Amateur heroes Adam Priestley and Ross Duggan

Yorkshire Amateur brought Liversedge’s incredible 37 league unbeaten run to an end thanks to a brilliant performance at Bracken Edge.

First half goals from Ross Duggan and Gibraltar International Adam Priestley secured Craig Ogilvie and Neil Sibson’s side a memorable victory.

Liversedge had not lost in the league since losing to a deep injury-time goal at Hemsworth Miners Welfare in late October 2019.

The Ammers scored either side of the half-hour mark.

Duggan continued his hot streak with another belter which flew in with a little bit of help from the bar.

Priestley then went close but shot straight at visiting goalkeeper Jordan Porter.

He made no mistake though a few minutes later as he latched onto the through ball and rounded Porter before scoring.

‘Sedge sent out a warning shot just as half-time approached as Lewis Whitham hit the post.

But instead of sitting back the Ammers did attack and Priestley rattled the woodwork himself.

The home side, whose recent marquee signing Nathan Cartman came on as a substitute, had to endure a few nervy moments.

But they rode them out to record a fine win and clean sheet.
