Jack of all trades Brett Lovell sent a thunderbolt into the top corner to put Penistone Church into the race for the top two.
Lovell’s unforgettable winner earned Penistone a 2-1 win over his favourite opponents, struggling Hemsworth Miners Welfare.
Church goalkeeper Chris Snaith was also a hero as he redeemed himself after making the foul by saving a last minute penalty to deny his old side.
Church are now only three points behind second-placed Eccleshill United and the chances of them capturing the second promotion/play-offs spot are now very real.
Such a feat would be unbelievable as Church were near the bottom when Steve Lenthall took over in September.
A spot kick from penalty guru James Young gave Penistone a first half lead.
Hemsworth stalwart Harry Viggars levelled the contest on the hour.
Lovell then sparked pandemonium with his effort from the edge of the penalty area as he haunted Hemsworth once again with a winning goal.
The final word went to Snaith who held his nerve to be the last minute hero.
The result was good news for Albion Sports who drew 0-0 at Maltby Main.
