Ambitious Wakefield AFC strengthened their hold on a sacred top five by seeing off Darren Hepworth’s Hepworth United on Wednesday night.
Fifth-placed Wakefield are three points ahead of Wombwell Main with a game-in-hand.
They also have three games-in-hand on fourth-placed Ecclesfield Red Rose 1915.
Wakefield need to finish in the top five to be considered for promotion to the Toolstation Northern Counties East League.
Former Nostell Miners Welfare player Red Bates converted Mason Rubie’s cross to place Wakey in front.
In the second half, Jake Morrison capitalised on a defensive mistake to tap-in the second goal.
Danny Youel added the icing on the cake in the 87th minute.
