Garforth Town were desperately unlucky to suffer defeat in the League Cup Final at the Keepmoat Stadium after producing a stunning late fight-back to force extra-time.

Paul Marshall’s side were dead and buried going into the final few minutes as Barton led 2-0.

Barton had raced into a commanding lead after scoring twice in the opening 16 minutes through Ben Hinchliffe and Will Waudby.

Barton almost extended their lead close to half-time.

Garforth, a team notorious for late comebacks, mounted one of their best yet as Karl Fitzgerald pulled one back in the 84th minute.

Substitute Hass Gorji then stunned Barton by equalising.

Toby Wells made a stunning save in stoppage time to deny Barton and force extra-time.

Unfortunately for Garforth, Tom Waudby popped up with the winner in the second half of the additional 30 minutes – ensuring a trophy for Nathan Jarman in his first campaign in management.
