Title-chasing Wakefield AFC fans can sleep easier as Dodworth Miners Welfare were only able to score five times against High Green Villa in Wednesday’s rearranged fixture.
Richard Day hit two in the victory.
Matt Jacobs scored against his old team while Jack and Liam Owen also netted.
Wakefield now go into Saturday’s home clash with Oughtibridge knowing that a win will all but secure the crown due to their superior goals difference over Dodworth and Swinton Athletic.
Dodworth needed to significantly improve their goals difference to ensure a winner takes all encounter with Wakefield on May 14th.
Dodworth now need Oughtibridge to draw or win if that scenario is to play out.
In a catch-up of all the action from the past few weeks, Hepworth United bowed out as a Premier Division club in a positive way as they beat North Gawber 4-1.

Denaby Main’s season ended on a real whimper as they were beaten 5-3 by Wombwell Reserves on Wednesday night.
Young starlet Bailey Cowsell leapt off the bench and scored twice for Wombwell.
Joseph Campbell, Jake Fenton and Alfie Stokes were the other Wombwell goal-scorers.
