Guiseley’s 12-year stay in the National North came to an end after late heart-break at Alfreton Town.

The Lions were on the brink of staying up until the 88th minute after Shaun Tuton converted a penalty.

However, Alfreton mounted a last ditch comeback to steal a 2-1 win.

Matt Rhead equalised before Yusifu Ceesay rubbed the salt in the wound with the stoppage time winner.

Guiseley had to win to clinch the great escape and Alfreton’s dramatic turnaround spared Farsley Celtic who were down until the fight-back.

Farsley’s destiny was out of their own hands as they lost 2-0 to Boston United and they faced a nervy wait when the final whistle went.

Once Guiseley’s defeat was confirmed, a pitch invasion and the players, fans and management celebrated wildly.

It is quite an achievement for Farsley as they looked doomed when saviour Russ Wilcox was appointed.

Play-offs bound York City drew 1-1 with AFC Telford United while Bradford (Park Avenue) lost 5-0 to Southport.
