Billy Mole was the hero as Wakefield AFC all but secured the title in front of over 500 fans.

Mole’s first header was the only goal in the victory over brave Oughtibridge.

Only an 8-0 win for Dodworth Miners Welfare in next week’s showdown will deny Wakefield the crown.

Such a feat is not impossible, but is unlikely, especially since Wakefield have kept a clean sheet in six consecutive games.

How Wakefield have risen to the top of the tree is remarkable as a top five finish was in doubt back in January when Gabe Mozzini was appointed.

The Brazilian-American manager is yet to lose a league game and his record stands at 14 wins and two draws.

Mozzini has drastically altered Wakey’s playing style and the rewards are all there to be seen.
