Houghton Main ended the season on a real high note after coming back from a 2-0 half-time deficit to win at local rivals North Gawber.

Top goal-scorer Harry Steeple struck twice for Houghton.

Highly-rated captain and defender James Byford banished the demons of the own goal he scored against Gawber in February by scoring at the right end.

Key midfielder Louis Wardle also netted.

Imran Abdalla, Luke Marsden and Carey Welford scored for Gawber.

The result keeps interim Houghton boss Donavan Cotton in the driving seat for the job on a permanent basis.

Since stepping into the breach after Nathan Simms’ exit, Houghton have five out of six games played.
