County Senior All Stars side to face champions Wakefield unveiled

Wombwell Main manager Terry Simon

Manager Terry Simon has unveiled most of his EV2 Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior League Representative side which will go toe-to-toe with Premier Division champions Wakefield AFC in Friday night’s showdown.

Highly-qualified tactician Simon, the Wombwell Main chief, has burnt the midnight oil and assembled a terrifying side in a bid to win the Brian Bradley Cup.

Further players will be revealed later this week.

For the players it is a huge honour to be picked and it is recognition of their performances this season.

Wombwell Town are the hosts for the mouth-watering occasion – the first time they have hosted an CSL final – and the game will raise money for charity.

Admission is £2 and all proceeds will go to the league’s men’s mental health partner #ItsOkToTalk which raises money for the Samaritans and Barnsley-based community group Project 14.

The Cup is named after Brian Bradley who was very well known across the Non League and local football circuit in South Yorkshire.

Brian was a former referee as well as an ex Doncaster Rovers commentator for BBC Radio Sheffield.

He also wrote columns about local football for the Sheffield Telegraph, alongside holding various positions for the Sheffield & Hallamshie County FA.

He and his wife Judith tragically passed away after a car accident in 2015.

  1. It’s fantastic to have this end of season competition as a charity event and there’s not many as experienced in the league as Terry it’s a great choice by the league…great opportunity to showcase the quality of our league from both the champions Wakefield point and the Reps too with some absolute quality players on show form both. Really looking forward to the event with hopefully a really good carnival atmosphere as it was at Wakefields last game against Dodworth. Hopefully plenty get down to Wombwell Town which is a great venue and raise lots for charity.
